Walking To A Healthier Lifestyle

Walking regularly is considered one of the best ways to keep healthy, strong and improve mobility. Experts say that a brisk walk could help burn lots of calories without really being subjected to any muscles strain.
But if you want to build your muscles and give your heart a workout, walking uphill would is just the ticket. Before starting out with a walking program, start by buying a pair of good walking shoes. Be sure to walk them in first, otherwise you might suffer from blisters and chaffed skin. A pair of walking shoes with soft rubber soles to avoid sore and tired feet.
Being properly hydrated is important, so a water bottle or container to bring with you during long distance walks is a good idea. A pedometer, heart and pulse monitor are also a good idea to bring along.
When first staring walking program, go with a group of beginners. Choose a beginner group and try to start slow giving yourself time to adjust. During the first few weeks of walking, don’t expect to be able to walk a marathon – take it nice and easy and build up your walking power.

I like to mix it up between zone 2 and zone 4 runs generally. For me the burn is much more satisfying…although the walk is a less stressful cardio. exercise on the joints etc. Nice Post!
