February 28, 2008 by Lucy

If you’re bored with your daily routine and fancy a spot of excitement - then maybe sky-diving is for you. It’s not for everyone and a pass time the faint of heart should leave well alone.

It may not do much for your fitness regime right there and then, but skydiving will definitely give you the experience of a life time and if it is a life long desire of yours to take this dare devil hobby up on a regular basis, it might be the carrot you need to take your exercising to the next level in short order - you’ll need stamina and good health to get started.

You’ll need sky diving lessons. to learn from the ground up - so to speak about parachutes, harnesses, altimeters among other things. Start with a tandem sky diving where you’ll be hooked up with your coach. Wait until you’re confident until you start on free fall on your own.

A good idea is to start sky diving in the simulator. This will give you an idea of whether this exciting hobby is for you. But if you’ve always wanted to sky dive but you’re not interested in making it a frequent hobby, there is one method of sky diving that doesn’t require much instruction at all, which is tandem sky diving. To all intents and purposes it’s considered to be safe, very simple and easy to do without losing the excitement. This technique entails a free fall at very high speeds where you’re harnessed to an instructor.

Sky diving does require that you’re in good health with no major health problems or disabilities health-wise. General restrictions would include heart or lung conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes, and certain neurological disorders such as seizures and/or epilepsy. Prior to any sky diving visit your doctor prior who’ll advise you if sky diving is ok for you, but to be sure call or visit the facility beforehand and ask about the health requirements excepted by them as these can be individual from company to company.

There are professional sky diving instruction facilities all over the world that can answer your questions and help you get started, that offer basic body flight training program, advanced body flight and wind tunnel all at various prices and of course not to put the wind up you - don’t forget your insurance.
