Treadmill Pads: An Invaluable Accessory for Treadmill Owners
September 2, 2009 Filed Under: Treadmills
Even though you might not notice it at first, the fact remains that these kinds of machines take a pounding from you using them, and they transmit a lot of weight and vibration down to your floor. Without some kind of protection, your floor is in danger of being slowly damaged over time.
After all, wouldnt the benefits you get from exercising be in vain if you ruin your floor in the process? This accessory is also very beneficial for those with carpeted floors. Fibers from carpets can get sucked into the machine and damage its insides. Treadmills also require maintenance, and need oiling from time to time. As such, dirt and grime from the machine may also leak onto your floor.
A pad prevents the treadmill from having direct contact with floors, and can soak up the grime from the machine. Additionally, using the treadmill also create vibrations that not only wear a floor down, but also damage the treadmill itself over time. Using a pad lessens the burden on your floor and on the treadmill itself by absorbing these vibrations, and will help extend the life of the machine.
You will find a fairly wide diversity in pads. They come in different shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Most of the time, the thicker pads will be more expensive. Most pads have a standard size of about 78 inches by 36 inches, and are 1/4″ thick. You can find them larger and thicker as well to suit your needs.
These are usually priced from $35 to $50. Of course, a buyer will have to adjust depending on the size of the treadmill being used, and the frequency of exercise. Larger treadmills may require a pad of about 7 feet, and more frequent exercises will want to invest in a thicker pad (about 3/8 of an inch thickness), which would only cost about $10 to $20 more.
A quality treadmill pad is truly a must have for an owner of this particular piece of exercise equipment. It’s a small price to pay to be able to protect your expensive flooring while at the same time extending the life of an expensive treadmill. Truly a win-win situation for comparatively little cost.
