Toning And Sculpting With Olympic Weight Sets

December 11, 2009 Filed Under: Body Building

Most people think of Olympic weight sets as tools that are only used by individuals who do heavy weight lifting exercises. While these sets are equipped for overall strength training and weight lifting training they are also excellent tools for body sculpting and toning areas of the body that other exercise methods may not reach.

For an individual who has decided to move their gym workouts to a home environment, Olympic weight sets will be the most necessary purchase made to make all of the other equipment function as needed. The weights sets come with plates made of cast iron steel or rubber coated cast iron which range in weight from two and a half pounds to forty-five pounds. The weight plates slide onto a seven foot bar and are held in place by spring collars.

When a person is setting up a gym they will find that they are able to achieve the same results with the equipment they use in their home as what they get at a gym. The difference is that the home equipment and weights are set up specific to an individual’s needs and are not changed each time the equipment is used by a different person.

Because the plates vary in weight it is very easy for an individual to start an exercise regimen using lighter weights and work up to more weight when they are ready. The exercise equipment that the weights are attached to are designed to accommodate either a lighter 2.5 pound weight or more weight and most will accommodate the full 300 pounds of weight that is included in the Olympic weight set.

It is important when one is looking for weight set accessories that they make sure that the equipment is compatible with the weights that they have. If an accessory has not been manufactured to accommodate the weights that are included in the Olympic weight set they may cause injury or damage the equipment.

When using a weight bench or lifting weights with the Olympic bar it is also important that a partner be enlisted who ca spot for the person who is lifting the weights. When there is not a partner involved in the weight training program it is very easy to get injured and be unable to call for assistance.

Many of the toning and sculpting exercises that are on focused parts of the body do not require a lot of weight to achieve the desired results. Olympic weight sets offer the convenience of allowing an individual to do a series of repetitions with lighter weights that will achieve the same results as if one used heavy weight for less repetitions. The results are immediately noticeable when one has completed a series of exercises that are focused on one part of the body.

Using Olympic weight sets can enhance many of the toning and shaping exercises that are done by women. When used properly one sees much quickly results and notices that the muscles begin to take shape much more quickly. Exercising using weights also burns more calories and one finds that losing inches becomes noticeable. It is important to remember when toning and sculpting the body that there are many cases when a person will lose inches before they lose weight. This is because muscle has weight and as it becomes healthier it weighs more.

Thanks for this detailed post. I agree that weight training is always a better way of gaining and developing muscle. But there are a number of people who don’t have the necessary time to do the weight training. For all those, I would like to suggest power plates that are very easy to use and provide very good results.
