As we get older it becomes much more difficult for us to maintain what is considered to be our ideal weight. In fact as we get older and once we reach our 40’s keeping in shape becomes much more difficult for us compared to when we were in our 20’s. 1. Unfortunately dieting is not the most effective way for you to maintain your ideal weight once reached. Instead of cutting back on what you eat you should be planning to eat up to six small but well balanced meals each day. Not only does this ensure that your body is getting the nutrients that it needs but it will help to keep your metabolism at a healthy speed.
2. If you constantly have negative thoughts this will make it more difficult for you to maintain the weight you are at now in the future. But by keeping your thoughts positive you will find that you are much more able to create an atmosphere which will help you to stay motivated and remain on track with your new fitness and diet regime.
3. Yes you should be eating low fat products however in order for your body to function properly you need to make sure you eat omega 3 fatty acids as well each day. These can be found in fish oil or flax seed oil. It is this fatty acid which helps to burn off the fat our bodies would normally store more easily. Therefore if you really are keen to maintain your ideal weight now reached you should be aiming to eat a cold water fish (for example salmon) on average 3 times each week. But if you can not do this then you should be taking an omega 3 fish oil supplement each day instead.
4. Even if you are eating the right kinds of foods as recommended in your diet you could actually be adding to your weight problem by not watching what it is you are drinking. If you are drinking large quantities of soda you may find that this is actually causing your weight to fluctuate. Not only do they contain large amounts of calories but they also help to eliminate calcium from your body which it needs. Therefore to maintain your weight in the future cut back on the sodas and drink more water and slimming teas instead.
5. Carrying out some kind of aerobic exercise is essential if you wish to maintain the weight you have loss. However if you want to further assist your body in burning off the unwanted fat it is important that you try and lift weights about 3 times each week. This will help to increase your lean muscle mass which is ideal for burning off the unwanted fat.
