Cellulite Sucks - 4 Things You Need To Know

February 5, 2008 by Lana Robinson · Leave a Comment

Cellulite, which is strictly a cosmetic issue as opposed to a medical issue, is a natural fat that is specifically more noticeable than other forms of fat in the body.

Located in the top layer of the skin, cellulite consists of unattractive lumps of fat that often give a cottage cheese-like appearance to the skin. (Side Note: The top layer of skin is called the subcutaneous layer and is the top of three layers of skin.)

Cellulite is produced by connective cords that attach the skin to your muscles below. These fibrous cords connect your skin to deep tissue structures in your body and fat substances that are located between. When the fat cells grow in number, they begin to press against your skin. While this is occurring, the cords are in the process of pulling in a downward motion, and ultimately, results in dimpling of the skin.

Cellulite is caused by a variety of different circumstances including: 1) a decrease in the venous flow, 2) improper blood circulation, 3) excess fluid retention, and 4) problems with lymphatic drainage. These factors can cause the subcutaneous fat cells to turn into unwanted cellulite. The female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, are also factors regarding the accumulation of cellulite. Estrogen has a role in determining the amount of fat cells as well as the location of the fat cells in a woman’s body. Estrogen stimulates the body to create fat cells in the thighs, the breasts, as well as in the buttocks. Retention of excess fluid and weight gain in a woman’s body can be caused by an increase of estrogen as well. Stretch marks that occur during pregnancy or puberty in the buttocks and the thighs might be signs of fat deposits, and for some women the stretch marks can become areas for cellulite.

It is very important that there is adequate blood flow in the areas where cellulite has appeared. This can be promoted by regular massaging of the area, and the application of high quality cellulite cream at least twice a day. (Side Note: The best time to massage these areas thoroughly is while taking a bath or shower.)

Another very critical aspect to help eliminate cellulite is hydration of the skin. Most of the anti-cellulite creams have extra hydration added to them; however, that is never enough. You need to drink a lot of water each and every day to ensure that your skin remains hydrated. Hence, you need to make it a point to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water per day.

By exercising on a regular basis, eliminating free radicals as much as possible from your body, eating healthy (highly nutritious foods plus vitamin and mineral supplements), not smoking, and limiting your consumption of alcoholic beverages, you are well on your way to limiting the development of cellulite in your body.

Natural Cellulite Remedy That Works

February 1, 2008 by Mandy Adamsen · Leave a Comment

Like many other people, you might also be looking for a natural cellulite remedy. After all, nobody ever wants to live through life covered from head to toe because of unsightly cellulite. The skin dimpling that is due to cellulite can be embarrassing.

Of course, there are surgical methods of removing cellulite but they can be expensive. They could also result in some side effects. This is why natural solutions are becoming very popular. It is important to remember though that there is more than one natural solution. Not every remedy will work for you. You need to be able to find the right combination of solutions to get rid of your cellulite problem. Here are some natural solutions to cellulite:

Proper Diet

Eating healthy foods alone does not remove the cellulite. It is still a good personal policy though to eat only nutritious foods. Cellulite is essentially a kind of fat. You get lots of extra fat by eating foods that are rich in it. You could make your problem worse by adding toxins in the mix. You’ll get lots of that from processed food, junk food and smoking.

You can prevent the development of cellulite by having a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, some of which are natural antioxidants that help sweep your system clean of toxins. Get your protein supply from regulated portions of poultry, fish and lean meat. Increase too your intake complex carbohydrates from cereals and whole grains.

Exercise

Another natural cellulite remedy is regular exercise. Again, exercising is not an absolute solution. Even well-toned athletes still end up with some cellulite. Exercise however can help decrease the appearance of cellulite. Both aerobic and muscle strengthening exercises can help you reduce your cellulite problem.

To help improve your blood circulation, you can do aerobic exercises like walking and swimming. This means anti oxidant nutrients are transported better throughout the body. Good circulation also means better elimination of body toxins and excess fats.

Muscle strengthening and toning exercises like stomach crunches, leg curls and squats can form and solidify your muscles. With well-formed muscles, your cellulite will become less obvious.

Massage

Some believe that a good massage can also be a good natural solution to cellulite. Different massage techniques can help break down stubborn cellulite, therefore assisting in its elimination. There may be some truth to this but there is still a need to thoroughly study massage as a solution to cellulite elimination.

Natural Products

A good natural cellulite remedy product can complement all the good habits that can help you reduce cellulite. Most products are usually either taken orally or applied topically. Although a number of oral based products really do work, some might not even if they contain good ingredients. Sometimes, a good oral product may not be able to successfully get through the accumulated stored fat. Topical applications on the other hand can be applied directly on the cellulite spot and absorbed through the skin.

Cellulite Reduction: Here’s A Proven Plan Of Attack

February 1, 2008 by Lisa Adams · Leave a Comment

If you are one of the millions of women who have spent money on cellulite creams and lotions, let me ask you a question … did they work?

For your sake, I hope they did, because no woman wants cellulite, on their thighs, rear ends or anywhere. The fact is, cellulite is present on just about every woman over the age of puberty, and there are hereditary factors at play as well. Some of us, though, have more visible cellulite than others.

And for those of you that have plunked down your hard earned cash for so-called miracle cellulite solutions that haven’t worked, let’s talk about real solutions. It’s very easy to buy into hype. Unfortunately, hype doesn’t have staying power. If you’re finding your cellulite has staying power though, here’s some straight talk facts and an action plan to finally reduce cellulite.

First off, cellulite is fat. There, we said it. Cellulite is fat just like any other fat, except it usually looks worse. Even though we’re bombarded every day by marketing messages claiming an instant miracle cure to melt away fat, all those pie in the sky promises do is leave you disillusioned and disappointed.

If you’re finally ready to get past the instant cure mindset, you can indeed significantly reduce cellulite. Will getting results mean changing your lifestyle? Yes, probably. Will reducing cellulite mean you’ll have to work at it a bit? Definitely. But if you carry through with a sound, reasonable action plan, will you see the results you want? Absolutely!

OK … here’s an action plan to help you reduce cellulite, once and for all. First, let’s talk about your diet. Not a diet, YOUR diet. Don’t go on a fad diet that says you have to eat celery and carrot sticks (you get the point). That’s not reasonable and you won’t stick with it. My recommendation is to change your lifestyle gradually. Eliminate one fast food meal per week and pack a healthy lunch instead. Substitute a glass of water for that latte or soda once per day. Little changes add up over the course of time. If your goal is more near term, implement these changes more quickly.

Next, you’ll need to commit to some aerobic activity. It really isn’t that hard, and we’ve got an easy to follow, but challenging, treadmill workout that’ll really burn calories and tone your problem cellulite areas. Here goes …

Plan for a 45 minute treadmill workout. If you’re just starting or have restrictions, substitute walking for running in our example. A friend and I have been doing this workout for 6 months, and it’s an outstanding fat burning workout. For the most part, you’ll break up the 45 minutes into 5 minute intervals to keep things fun, fresh, and challenging. Spend the 45 workout doing this:

1. 5 minute warm up walk at whatever speed is comfortable.

2. 5 minute walk at the same speed but with the treadmill incline at 5 degrees.

3. 5 minute jog, incline at 5 degrees, at a speed that requires you to jog.

4. 5 minute walk at treadmill incline 5 degrees.

At this point, you’ve completed 20 minutes, your heart rate is up, and you’re warmed up. Now it’s time for 15 minutes of interval training. This will be more challenging, but should be easy to do since it’ll be in 3 minute increments. 3 minutes x 5 intervals = 15 minutes.

Interval One: Run/Jog 1 minute at treadmill incline 6 degrees. Now walk two minutes, reducing speed but leaving the treadmill incline at 6.

Interval Two: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 7 degrees, walk 2 minutes at incline 7.

Interval Three: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 8 degrees, walk 2 minutes at the same incline.

Interval Four: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 9 degrees, walk 2 minutes also at 9 degrees.

Interval Five: Run/Jog 1 minute at incline 10 degrees, walk 2 minutes at incline 10.

You’ve now completed 35 minutes. It’s time to start cooling down!

5 minute walk at incline 5 degrees.

Finally, a 5 minute cool down walk with no incline.

That’s 45 minutes, and you’ve gotten a great fat burning workout, with particular emphasis on your cellulite problem areas (thighs and rear end). The best part about this workout is it’s easily adaptable. You can alter this workout to make it harder or easier according to your fitness level.

Also, this workout keeps you engaged and involved, and you’ll find the time will move quickly, as opposed to simply walking or jogging at the same speed, which can seem an eternity. Combined with some healthier eating habits, performing this fat blasting workout three times per week will reshape your body in ways you’ve never dreamed possible!

How to Lose Cellulite

December 11, 2007 by Mandy Adamsen · Leave a Comment

There are people who say that cellulite is a term invented by the beauty and cosmetics industry. They say that to emphasize that cellulite is not important enough to be medically treated. For many people though, cellulite is a pressing concern especially for those with severe cellulite conditions.

Why Lose Cellulite

It’s easy to say that cellulite is no big thing. It is an entirely different issue though when cellulite starts to interfere with the way you dress, the way you appear in public and the way you interact with other people. This is especially true for those with cellulite conditions that look more than just a slice of cottage cheese. Having a bad case of cellulite is like having a secret that can ruin you if it gets out.

Also, experts are quick to say that cellulite is simply fat. By the way it looks, it definitely is excess fat. One strong reason why you should lose cellulite is that it won’t do you any good to have it. Although it won’t really hurt you either, there’s no point in letting extra fat just sit there. Read more

Finding the Best Cellulite Treatment

December 8, 2007 by Mandy Adamsen · Leave a Comment

Finding the best cellulite treatment can be confusing. This is simply because there are so many products and options to choose from. How can you make sure that you get the right solution that will work best for you?

Given below are some traits that can be found in a good cellulite solution.

Works for a Lot of People

Different individuals have different cellulite conditions. This means that not every single treatment will work on everyone with cellulite because some conditions are unique. Liposuction for example has been shown not to be effective on people with inelastic skin. There are however some solutions that work well on a great number of people. This is the kind of best cellulite treatment that you should look for. This will at least give you a high chance of benefiting from it even if you have a seemingly unique and stubborn condition. A Guide On How To Get Rid of Cellulite

The build up of body fat in some areas of our bodies sometimes results in lumps or dimples on the skin. These are called cellulite. Women all over the world have become highly preoccupied trying to find answers to the problem of how to get rid of cellulite. There may be one or two methods which may guarantee complete removal but most methods simply focus on reducing cellulite.

Body Wraps

There are health and fitness spas who don’t claim to know how to get rid of cellulite but they know how to reduce it using body wrapping. This procedure works under the idea that cellulite is caused by fats with a lot of water.

Spas simply provide plastic or rubber wraps to be wrapped around problem areas such as the waist and abdomen and, in some cases, around the entire body. These wraps are sometimes used with specially formulated creams or herbal solutions. Some people truly have experienced losing a few inches fast through this procedure. Body wrapping is not always safe though because of the danger of dehydration and should only be conducted by a reputable spa. Read more
