Nutritious Cooking

July 28, 2009 Filed Under: Healthly Living

Potatoes have always been a favourite and welcomed veggie to compliment the dish of the day at our dinner table, especially fluffy mashed potatoes or the baked-in-the-jacket, French fries, roasted, scallops, steamed, pancaked – the potato is so versatile and there’s just nothing like digging up the first new batch of potatoes each year.

Usually our busy schedule dictates how much time there is to prepare and cook the ’spuds’. The traditional way takes a little longer, so I was especially pleased to find an on-line source explaining almost all there is to know about this sometimes under rated veg.

Nutritionally, potatoes are best known for their carbohydrate and starch content and unlike many foods, potatoes can also be easily cooked in a microwave oven and still retain almost all their nutritional value.

There’s much more to a spud than meets the eye and hundreds of ways to prepare a healthy meal with them too, as you can find out at the innovative Potato Underground website.

Visit PotatoUnderground.com site frequently, subscribe to their newsletter – and you’ll get a steady stream of healthy recipes, nutrition research information, spud insight, along with quick and nutritious cooking techniques that’ll make your life easier and don’t forget to check out their videos and recipes.
