Choosing The Right Massage Therapy Products
February 29, 2008 by Kerris Samson
Because there are so many different massage therapy products available choosing the right ones for you can seem a little overwhelming, especially if you are only just starting out. As there are so many different brands, you will find that it may take you some time before you actually find what it is you want. Below we offer a few guidelines that should help you when it comes to finding exactly the right products for your massage therapy business.
Massage Tables - The first thing that you need to do before you actually buy your table is decide what kind of business it is you are going to be running. Are you just going to be based in one location where your clients visit you or will you be offering them a service where you go to them (mobile).
You may even be someone that actually offers both facilities to clients. Then you need to get a massage table that is not only durable (strong) but is comfortable. Plus if you are going to be mobile then you need one that can be easily transported.
Linens - Along with a good quality, massage table you will also need pads for it, sheets, blankets, towels and of course face cradle covers. The linens that you select should be of a good quality as they will be under constant strain, wear and tear when being used. Also look for materials that feel comfortable against your client’s skin, otherwise they will find it difficult to relax. If not then getting the full benefits of a massage, session will be greatly reduced.
Although disposable face cradle covers seem like a money saving idea they should not be used if at all possible. It is always better to just have a bit more laundry to do than to make your clients have to fidget around because the cover touching their faces feels uncomfortable. If you cannot afford to get nice new covers in the beginning, then just buy one or two each time you make other product purchases. Soon you will have more than enough to cope with your clients demands.
Lotions, Oils and Creams - These are products which are essential to your massage therapy business and will need to be replaced on a regular basis. To save yourself money buy all the base products (unscented) in bulk and then over time build up a selection of essential oils to use with them.
The more essential oils you have this provides you with the chance of giving your clients a more personalized service as they will be able to select the oils that they prefer. Plus over time as you learn more about your clients and what they like you can start to suggest some alternative scents that they should try.
Are you someone who is keen to see their massage therapy business thrive? Then you need to make sure that you only buy the best quality massage therapy products that you can. If not your clients will feel uncomfortable and find it difficult to relax and the chances of them returning to you are greatly reduced.
