I Want To Diet Fast – Insider Truths

September 13, 2009 Filed Under: Dieting

We could be putting on weight because we have too much stress in our lives and not enough sleep. It happens to many of us – we’re running around at a hundred miles an hour, juggling far too many balls in the air. One problem after another seems to need sorting, and tension rises. At this time, our natural inclination is to eat.

But it could be there’s a connection between food that’s laden with calories and feeling stressed. This is the thinking behind weight gain that is stress related: Cortisol, a stress hormone is exuded by the body at particularly stressful times.

Then in an attempt to stabilise our blood sugar, an insulin release is stimulated. This insulin release makes us feel hungry- particularly for carbohydrate and fat-rich foods. So we eat carbs and fats, and pretty quickly feel more energised.

Momentarily, we benefit from a lowering of stress, and we’re satisfied. Although within the merest hint of time the high has gone. The reason for this is the insulin takes the glucose that came from these foods and pops it straight into fat storage areas – such as the area around our waist!

Thus if weight loss is your objective, first try to create a more harmonious lifestyle! Alongside this concept, think about how much sleep you’re getting. There was a time when the average person slept eight hours a night. This is no longer the case, with seven being optimistic for many today.

Respectively, the level of obesity in our society has risen. There could be a hormonal link to the two factors. If we’re not sleeping for long enough, we develop an appetite for more food. Because we’re awake, our bodies are tricked into thinking it must be day-time, and so believe more food is needed.

Evidently our longing for food rises as we become more tired, and again we veer towards carbohydrates and fatty food. Taking back that extra hour for night-time recuperation may well lead to eating fewer calories.

And so to our conclusion. If we aim to reduce the tension in our lives, we might just find it easier to reduce our weight as well. Try saying ‘No’ sometimes to other people’s requests. Then take a little time to reflect as day turns into evening, have a nice warm shower and lie down to rest and enjoy the recuperation.
