Benefits Of Hypnosis

December 12, 2007 by Donald B.

Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, inner absorption, and concentration. Hypnosis is finding increasing usage in dentistry and other arenas where lessening pain is important. Hypnosis is not a form of mind control and does not go against any religious beliefs.

Anxiety

Hypnosis can help anxiety disorders in many ways. In the latter instance, the parts of the mind that promote anxiety are quieted.

Practical uses for hypnosis Hypnosis has been used in the treatment of habit disorders, anxiety, pain, stress; depression; and phobias; ; gastro-intestinal disorders; skin conditions; post-surgical recovery; relief from nausea and vomiting; childbirth; treatment of hemophilia; and many other conditions. Even with little understanding of how it works, hypnosis has been used in medicine since the 1950s to treat pain and, more recently, as a treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, irritable bowel syndrome and eating disorders

A increasing body of research supports the ancient practice as an effective tool in the treatment of several problems, from nervousness to frequent pain. While hypnosis is best known for successful weight loss, to stop smoking, to reduce anxiety and tension, for self confidence, fear, etc, the truth is, hypnosis may be useful for any topic that is controled by the mind.

Hypnosis is commonly used to lower stress and anxiety, and create a sense of well being. Many reports demonstrate that hypnosis can assist patients in lowering blood pressure, stress, anxiety, and pain for some period of time.

Hypnosis is not a kind of psychotherapy. Hypnosis is a simple and revitalizing process with long lasting benefits.

Very cool! I also just blogged about how hypnosis (and cognitive behavioral therapy) can potentially improve IBS. I thought the study I referenced (dated in Feb. 2008) was news at the time, but I see you beat me to the punch by 2 months. I’ll get you next time, Gadget… :)
