How To Lose Fat Naturally – In Detail

August 25, 2009 Filed Under: Dieting

To achieve anything new takes a certain amount of planning, with specific targets to measure progress. You can’t achieve results if you just casually ‘have a go’. The celebrities of today will have been working on their goals for some time.

The most successful people on any diet programme are those who set themselves realistic, achievable goals to get them from A to B. Goals, or targets that stretch you somewhat are vital for consistent effort. An end goal, with mini-goals timed along the way will assist you greatly. Always specify your targets clearly.

Make a personal contract based on the following 5 D’s to immerse yourself in the positive outcome of your weight management. This contract should be written down, and signed. You should write your definition of what losing weight will mean – for example great looks, health, fun and so on. Stick pictures on your walls to remind you of what it’s going to be like when you’re slimmer. Make sure to refer to them before every work-out session.

Desire (why you’re doing it). This needs to be something that stirs an emotion within you. For instance is it because you want to gain the approval of another person, have more fun or feel less restricted?

Next comes Dedication (the commitment)… How much time will you spend exercising each week and when? Put it on a calendar, in a diary, or on the fridge!

This not only helps you to get into a routine, it’s also an indicator for those around you that you’re engaged in something that’s important to you. Psychologically you’ll also find it much easier on yourself if you do this. It’s mentally easier for you too, because you don’t feel tempted to do other things.

The purpose of a contract is to have written evidence of your Determination. It helps having a physical document that is there for all to see. Having your goals formally laid out gives you the Discipline to work at them efficiently. It’s also much easier to stay on course with good discipline.

Your written document is the beginning of your new life – refer to it often. Expectation of good things, along with planning and goal-setting, have proven time after time to bring the desired results to fruition. The more emotionally involved you get with the results of completing your weight loss, the sooner you’ll get through it.
