Hoodia Gordinii: Appetite Suppressant Herb
March 12, 2010 Filed Under: Weight Loss
Hoodia Gordonii resembles a cactus, but is actually a succulent from the Kalahari Desert of southern Africa. Hoodia Gordonii is not a drug but a plant – a herb. Some pharmaceuticals companies are trying to isolate the “P57″ appetite suppressing molecule to create a pharmaceutical drug in the near future, but the Gordonii variant of Hoodia only has the appetite suppressant characteristics.
Hoodia sort of fools your brain into making you think that you have eaten making you feel that your tummy is full. Hoodia may work very quickly or may take a longer period to work, but as no two people are the same – this factor will depend on your inner make-up.
Hoodia Gordonii has seemingly no known side effects but is safe for all to take. Centuries ago, people used Hoodia to stay hunger and thirst during long journeys in the deserts of the Kalahari.
But how does Hoodia work?
Hoodia Gordonii contains a molecule called as P57, which acts on the nerve cells like the glucose molecule and tells the brain that the tummy is full. A clinical research performed in Britain showed that Hoodia gordonii could reduce appetite by several hundreds of calories per day.
OK – so it works but how quickly Hoodia will work?
Some people feel the effects just after a short time of an hour or so, while others don’t feel the effects until two to three weeks have pasted.
The main effects of taking Hoodia Gordonii will include:
Feeling full more quickly.
A delay in the time after eating before hunger sets in again.
General feeling of well being and contentment.
Reduced interest in food.
As Hoodia Gordonii helps reduce calorie intake, this mean that it will help you in your efforts to reach your ideal weight.
