Bad cholesterol nestles and stubbornly binds to the body. This common fact causes great amount of effort to afflicted ones. If only it were that simple and could be by magic diluted in the system and rinsed away with water, then the fear accompanying its effects will not be gruesome to prepare about. The sad thing about bad cholesterol is its presence in the minute-diameter of the veins. The annoying part of having bad cholesterol in the body is that it clings to the vein walls, where blood must constantly flow without obstructions and consequently results in high blood pressure somewhere along the way.

Don’t misunderstand. The presence of good cholesterol is an important ingredient in our vital processes. It is the bad cholesterol, which has to be prevented from clogging the arteries. Usually it takes years of careless consumption of high cholesterol foods to find out one day it’s too late to eliminate the disadvantage.

Cholesterol and weight gain often go together, the main reason why obese or simple overweight people are prone to having high cholesterol levels. Some major factors that affect these high levels are certain drugs, genes and our every day diet. That’s why people that are not over weight are surprised when they learn of their overly high cholesterol levels.

Usually there poor information is provided about preventing cholesterol from increasing and the only time they learn is when they are assessed clinically. It’s not uncommon for people to purchase remedies over-the-counter in the hope that they will help, but they rarely do. You can’t really trust a personal diagnosis, so if you feel that you have symptoms – then consult with your physician.

Keeping a healthy lifestyle is a must in preventing health troubles in the first place. The most realistic way to prevent a high level of cholesterol is to control what you eat and exercise frequently.

In the interim, there are food groups that are helpful in lowering cholesterol levels. For instance foods with antioxidants help a great deal in preventing hoarding bad cholesterol.

Here is a short list of foods to consider including in your diet to help keep your ‘bad’ cholesterol levels low:

Oatmeal and Fibre:

Oatmeal is a nutritious fiber with the reputation for its capacity to reduce cholesterol. Oatmeal is not just filled with nutritious fibres, but is renowned for it’s capability in reducing cholesterol. Other than oatmeal, fibers of the same kind such as bran, wheat, brewer’s yeast, breads, rice, beans, legumes and other cereals and food grains help supercharge and improve the level of good cholesterol.

Fruit and Vegetables:

Fruit and vegetables are at the top of the food pyramid and are filled with natural vitamins and antioxidants. The recommended amount of this kind of food is far higher than we in reality eat on a daily basis. These have purifying attributes and do not contain a single fat, especially citrus fruits that are rich in vitamin C. Vitamin E is one of the best antioxidants there is for fighting off free radical elements and is found in the cucumber. Eat lots of cucumber to help eradicate various diseases and conditions.

Fish Dishes:

Tuna and other white meat fish are always a good alternative and are low in saturated fat – excellent for a healthy diet.

Lean Meat:

Chicken and turkey without the skin, liver, extra lean beef. Without the fat, these protein rich foods are an essential part of a low cholesterol diet.

Yogurt to regulate stomach acids:

Very good in the regulating the acids in the stomach which is a good way to balance the digestion of food. For some dairy products aren’t a good idea, but yogurt does help regulate stomach acids and is an excellent way to balance digestion.

Because it can lead to serious heart problems – lowering cholesterol is important for everyone because it’s primary key in the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease. Lowering cholesterol is just one way to conduct a more healthy life and maintain a healthy heart and body. To find out what your cholesterol level is, you simply must visit your doctor.

    I had an overall cholesterol level of 312 and my doctor said “you have the worst cholesterol ratio I’ve ever seen!”. She recommended the South Beach diet. I cannot express how amazing this diet is for both lowering cholesterol and losing the extra pounds. It’s more about replacing bad fats with good fats than total fat consumption.
