Seven Ways To Rev Up Your Energy

January 10, 2008 by Melanie Mendelson

Get 8 hours of sleep.

Decreased energy and constant fatigue is usually the first sign of sleep deprivation. We all need at least 8 hours of sleep at night. If not, you will usually find yourself sleeping in on the weekends feeling exhausted.

If you have to wake up early in the morning, go to sleep earlier in the evening. Going to bed even 30 minutes earlier can make a huge difference in your energy levels during the day.

* Reduce clutter.

Not being able to find anything among out-of-control piles of papers is stressful. Clothes that you never wear, papers that are falling everywhere and useless items that you feel sorry to throw out can invade your space and take over your life.

* Drink more water.

Being dehydrated makes you feel tired and irritable. If you are not thirsty, that does not mean that you drink enough water. By the time you feel thirsty it’s too late - you are already dehydrated.

Get a water bottle with the ounces marked on it and fill it every morning. This makes it so much easier to get all 32 ounces of water down everyday.

* Go for a walk.

It is documented that walking, even a short walk, is one of the best ways to increase energy and lose weight. Amazingly, you will burn even more fat walking than hammering away at aerobics.

Try to walk a little more everday. Start out with getting in a few more steps and then work up to a full walking routine.

* Break a routine.

Having the same old routine every day sucks out your soul and steals your energy. Do not allow yourself to get stuck in a rut! Do something new on a regular basis.

Now is the time to try something you have always wanted to try!

* Call or go see a friend.

Even if you do not feel like visiting anyone, do, it is always worth it. It is amazing how a friend can cheer a bad day up and offer some inspiration.

* Weight loss.

Excess weight is just that much more your body has to move around all day long. Just think of how heavy a 10 pound sack of potatoes is and imagine carrying that on your body day and night.
