A Total Body Detox To Help Lose Weight Fast
December 30, 2007 by Clare Denton
Probably top of the list is the fact that a deep cleansing detox program will help protect yourself against future disease and illness, and will revitalise your whole body. Doing a detox about 3 times a year is the ideal regimen for optimum health, and each detox diet should last for at least 3 days - 7 day detox plans are even better, if you have the will power.
A 3 day detox will work wonders in helping to start the cleansing process, and start removing systemic sludge and mucous from your system. But to feel the full benefit, a 7 day detox is really recommended as you will really give the cleansing process ample time to run its course. Whichever option to go for, I thought you might be interested in the benefits you can expect to see after a healthy detox.
increased mental clarity - a clean smelling body as the digestive tract is cleared of accumulated waste - a clearer respiratory tract as excess mucous is eliminated - a purer bloodstream, good functioning liver and kidney - glowing skin and complexion - better sleep - less dependency on habit-forming drugs such as caffeine, nicotine and alcohol - reduced stomach bulge and size - more energy for the lethargic person
These benefits are more pronounced on the seven-day detox plan.
How To Prepare For a Detox Program
If you eat a lot of red meat and dairy products, it’s a good idea to go on a 3 day vegetarian diet before your start any detox program. Edible seeds, unsalted nut and various beans can provide all the protein you need, along with various soy products including soy milk. If there’s anything you’re unsure about you should check with your physician or nutritionist first.
Basic Instructions While On The Detox
While you’re on the detox program you should not consume any cooked food or dairy products. Don’t drink tap water - instead either use purified water, coconut water or fit a quality water filter to your drinking water system.
No foreign fruits, instead use only local fruits and vegetables in season. No sweeteners except for sugar cane or/and cane juice.
Check out the recipe below for Green Juice - you should aim to drink at least one glass of this juice every day. It contains a plethora of vital life enhancing nutrients including calcium, iron, vitamin C, folic acid, and is packed with cancer fighting antioxidants and phyto nutrients.
If you can afford it, aloe vera is great for detoxing (and every day health benefits). It’s a powerful skin healer and works wonders on your insides and digestive tract. The best time to take it is last thing at night before bed.
The immune booster consists of garlic (a well-known antibiotic) and orange juice. Additions of passion fruit or guava to the immune booster are optional but would greatly increase the vitamin C content of this juice. Instructions for these preparations are given below.
Green Juice.
Ideally you’ll need a good quality juicer for this - alternatively you can simply blend the ingredients and strain afterwards. You’ll need purified, filtered or coconut water, lime juice, cucumber, fresh ginger, and then any green veggies: parsley, lettuce, celery, broccoli, okra, string beans, broccoli, callaloo, did I mention broccoli?
It doesn’t really matter which vegetables you use, just so long as the juice you create is definitely green. Try a few experiments to find a flavour you like. A good tip to enhance the taste is to use carrot juice instead of coconut water. To make the aloe juice, juice a grapefruit or orange and add a third of an aloe leaf - peeled first.

Hello! Found your blog on yahoo while searching for Home Recipe Skin Care Products - quite some good info thanks, Kasper P.
As a health and fitness coach, I start off my clients with a natural and slow detox using certain foods. I then advise them to seek out an MD who specializes in chelation to assess them and to pull out heavy metals such as mercury and lead from their system, but only if they need it. Detox is definitly the way to go and it also helps with anti-aging.
