Got Too Much Weight?

December 30, 2009 Filed Under: Weight Loss

No doubt carrying a few extra pounds around can make us feel handcuffed.

Even for Paul life was a mystery and he wondered how he is doing the things he doesn’t want to do but the things he wants to do, those he doesn’t do.

Another way of saying this is that we are built to break rules. As humans we are meant to find freedom and testing and breaking those rules is part of this human experience. Does this mean that we are here to be stubborn and purposely create drama to get people upset – of course not. However, eating a meal big enough for 3, and then hoping that our bodies love us for it can not be called true freedom. We have to remember that we do live in the real world and there are consequences to all of our actions. At the same time, we are told that the greatest commandment is love and that love never lets us down.

And since love never lets us down, what do the 95% of all failing diets tell us? Is there much love there in those diets?

So how about approaching your body and your overall well-being with the quality of love rather than the quality of “shoving that body into someone else’s box” – especially since we know that we eventually will find a way to defy the rules of that box.

Here are 3 things you can do to start being more loving with yourself.

1. Nutritional labels are not as truthful as we think, in fact they are quite misleading. A better way is to start reading the contents of the food, the ingredients. The fewer items on the ingredients list, the better. If your head understands what’s in your food, then your body knows what to do with it.

2. Never buy anything that says “light,” “fat free,” “reduced fat,” etc. on it. If you purchase a pack of “red vines” it’ll say on the package “fat free” or “0 grams of fat,” which leads you to believe that you can “have at it.” Nothing could be farther from the truth. Most of these foods are stuffed with chemicals and corn syrup, which your body turns immediately into pure body fat. Our body is the ultimate chemical laboratory and will create the perfect amounts of nutrition as long as you give it foods it actually recognizes. You have to remember, our body’s one and only function and purpose is to get us through life in a healthy way, for it to constantly repair itself and renew itself. All we have to do is listen to our body and leave the ego out of it.

3. And by all means do not buy foods that are not really foods. For example, if it states on the label that it can’t believe that it’s not whatever, then don’t believe it. If the product itself can’t believe you’re your body won’t know what to do with it either. Much better than fake sugars is to give your body natural sweeteners, such as agave nectar or raw honey. There are also sugars from trees that are excellent for diabetics and does not require a birch tree to be cut down. Our bodies this way know exactly what to do with the foods we feed it and it can convert the contents into needed nutrients. Feeding our bodies fake and manufactured foods only creates confusion for our bodies, which in turn might reject what we feed it all together or make our bodies turn the contents into pure fat or create havoc such as diabetes, high blood pressure and so on.
