Get A Body For Life Attitude

September 16, 2009 Filed Under: Weight Loss

We often make excuses when it comes to losing weight. We don’t mean to do it but somehow the feeling just creeps up, stopping us from following our dieting and exercising plans and reaching the goals we set. Disillusioned, disappointed and often depressed and disgusted with ourselves, we slump back into old familiar habits.

But how do we stop making these weight loss excuses?

The all too familiar excuses seem to come automatically and without realizing what’s going on, we’re following the same unhealthy path once again. You’d think that losing weight was easy enough, but without a little discipline, commitment and will to make it happen, it all falls apart.

Some of the most common excuses I’ve found and I’m sure used myself at some point – include:

  • Busy today – I’ll do it tomorrow
  • No time to prepare healthy meals
  • Too old to exercise
  • The gym’s too far away
  • Not enough support
  • Not feeling well
  • Bored with exercising

These excuses are just a few that come to mind, but if you noticed – the majority are really silly reasons.

So how do you stop making these excuses?

Try to find out why you’re finding ways to stop. Are they acceptable to you? If not, then why are you not taking some action? The majority of people don’t like being overweight – are they afraid of failing. Don’t be afraid of failure – from it we learn and can adjust and make changes for the better.

The way we think will reflect on how we succeed or fail not only when losing weight, but in anything we do in life. The more negative we think, the more excuses we’ll find not to do it and in doing so, we can’t help but fail.

Life is short enough and if prolonging it is important to you – then go for it, strive harder – get a body for life attitude. It’s up to each of us to help ourselves in getting an attitude for success and taking action to get rid of the habits that are bad for us, that can cut our lives short and instead find ways to enjoy a healthier, quality lifestyle.
