Facial Surgery: Always Let An Expert Do The Job
March 29, 2009 Filed Under: Surgery related
A few weeks ago I heard of a young person that had been in a terrifying accident, while travelling by car on a motorway.
The consequences of driving too fast can be devastating, as this young man was hit by the car behind him, while they were both driving at high speed. He was thrown through the wind shield of his own car, cast several meters over the middle ramp to the other side of the motorway, only to be hit sideways on by an on-coming car.
Apart from several broken bones, this young man miraculously survived his ordeal, but had broken almost every head and shoulder bone there is – small price to pay and as if that wasn’t enough, his ordeal wasn’t quite over yet.
One would think that being admitted to a modern hospital these days, professional experts and trained medical staff would be on hand to put anyone that had gone through such a horrific situation – together again. That was not to be.
With nose and jaw bones broken, everything as you can imagine was out of alignment, consequently his face had to be held together with wire, nuts and bolts so to speak. After several long months of long drawn out pain and 3 attempts to restructure this persons face and bones, each time by some fluk, the procedure didn’t go as expected and had to be done again.
The patient and his family after the third time said enough and was forced to check in at a private clinic for facial surgery by an expert, before his face was back to it’s old self again. Two years had past.
The point here is, that while the hospital was doing it’s best – they didn’t have the expertise in house to provide this patient with the facial surgery he needed. Whatever the reason was for all these mistakes, make sure that if you need facial surgery – and it can be difficult to coordinate this if you’ve been in an accident – but it’s imperative to get the right expert for the job – as with anything in life.
