Coping Positively With Depression
October 21, 2009 Filed Under: Anxiety
Most sufferers of these problems feel like this at some point and it further deepens the torment and in many cases intensifies the problem, a problem that seems to be a never ending, vicious circle.
These problems can come from all kinds of situations i.e. a marriage that isn’t working well. Perhaps you or your partner have had an affair, maybe you both feel that your relationship has gone stale and you’ve both decided that you’ve had about as much as you can take.
Another problem could be that your work situation has changed and you find yourself suddenly working long hours and under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines, or totally and suddenly without a job. As if this isn’t enough, in addition money – or the lack of it, is becoming or is already a real problem, credit card debts are accumulating and this is causing a lot of stress to say the least.
These are all known situations that bring people into a negative state, both physically and mentally. Not feeling that you can talk to anyone about your problems, you try to make things better in your own way, but they just somehow become worse, where you wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and every waking thought is just so negative that you begin to think destructive thoughts such as – ‘what’s the point in trying to fix the situation. My life is in a shambles, nothing I do will ever change it, life will never be the same – I give up.’
While lifes situations can be a pain in the you know what sometimes, thinking more negative thoughts is going to get you more down in the dumps and make it virtually impossible for you to find any solutions to the problems you’re facing.
Problems do blow over, not always by themselves but things will change for certain and thinking positively will put a different angle on things, and you’ll see things in a different perspective. There are always changes for the better in life as well as the opposite, but unfortunately good things don’t always last forever – and so it is with bad things too.
Depression and anxiety are destructive and will make it difficult for you to think straight and find the solutions to the problems – and there are always solutions.
Change can be created by you and it’s funny how things are quite different when they’re good, we don’t seem to have any problems making changes constantly, when things are in harmony. Hard as it may seem to believe, you can choose to create change even when things are rough, you’re stressed, anxious or depressed. This is a power that we all have in us whether we’re stressed or in balance with ourselves.
If you can grasp this way of thinking, you’ll soon begin to realize that there’s not much in life that’s permanent and that the bad times your having right now in whatever situation you’re in, will blow over. The stress that you feel this negative situation is giving you right now, will pass too and you’ll suddenly have the energy to combine your strengths and energy and put the power you have to create changes yourself into action.
