Exercises For Abs: Overview And Office Exercises
November 8, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Exercise machines, toning videos, motivational exercise tapes, the list goes on and on of the exercises for abs that are available. So one may wonder why there is such a high percentage of individual who suffer from obesity and can’t seem to find time in their day to dedicate to being fit. A big part of the problem is centered around time.
Most people are working longer hours than ever before. They spend the day at the office working at a desk, then come home and work at their computer late into the night. The variety of machines available that provide exercises for the abs are enticing but there is just no time to use them. At some point in their life most people purchase a treadmill and a rowing machine for their home and may even try to use them for awhile, but again, time and other commitments interfere with the best intentions.
Going to gyms is an option that is usually very popular around January when New Year’s resolutions are made. But, while the membership may go on for years, the wonderful ab toning machines that are designed to provide exercise for the abs sit idle as people hurry to their office jobs.
Many trainers agree that the most effective way of toning an individual’s abs is to incorporate the use of diet and exercise. In many cases this includes exercises which do not require equipment and can easily be done in the comfort of one’s home or in an office.
If a person is in a work station that requires a lot of sitting one very effective ab exercise that can be done in just a few minutes during a break is to grasp the arms of the chair you are in, rise just a bit off the seat, then while staying in the sitting position lift both legs up for a count of ten, relax and repeat. This is a simple exercise but strengthens the abs and back as well as tightening the rear end. If a person is working in an office or cubicle it is not an exercise that will attract unnecessary attention when being done.
Exercises for abs number two will seem very easy when first started. But it is doing a job that will become more noticeable later. Hold a water bottle at chest level with elbows pointed outwards. Keeping the seat stationary twist to the left and then to the right several times. This exercise will strengthen the back muscles and exercise and tone those abs at the same time.
The last of exercises for the abs is the most relaxing but actually is doing the most work. Folding the fingers behind the neck arch the back and tighten the stomach muscles at the same time. Count to six then relax complete leaning forward, hanging the arms and head down and shoulders relaxed. Do this a few times at first and work up as you do them more. This exercise stretches all of the parts you’ve been abusing and tightens the abs at the same time.
There are many exercises for abs that are effective and work many other parts of the body. But the most effective exercises for abs are the ones that a person can actually do in the location they are at. For many people there is not enough time in the day to go to a gym regularly and when one gets home they don’t feel like pulling out a treadmill. But exercising while sitting at a desk is an opportunity that presents itself on a daily basis.

5 Ab Exercises-Yes…Contraptions-No
November 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment
The big players in the abdominals business are well aware of the ton of money to be made. In order to get as much of that money as possible they’ve developed countless products with the objective of keeping you from getting the results you want and instead keep on selling you the lastest device. Unfortunatly the great majority of these machines are not very effective. Don’t waste your hard earned money on these time wasters, spend your time on ab exercises that do actually work, and save that precious money while getting what you really want. Just do these five exercises and you’ll get the great abs you have been looking for.
#1 – Any powerlifter will tell you this exercise is not for wimps. Is is known as the the king of exercises. It is one of three basic lifts performed by the worlds powerlifters. You may think-wow I’m going to look like a big, musclebound hulk. You don’t need to worry about that, it requires special diets to acheive a build like that. This exercise is known as the deadlift and without the special diet it will simply work out your back muscles, leg muscles and abs with excellent results.
#2 – The Squat While the squat is primarily a leg exercise, it relies on the abdominals in order to keep the body straight and safe during the lift. When you’re balancing weight on your shoulders, your body needs to engage your abdominals to keep itself upright. Move through the movement and keep your abs reasonably tense, and your chest puffed out. While your legs may ache right afterwards, it’ll be your abs that see the true benefit in a couple of months.
#3 – Now that we have performed a couple of classic weight exercise routines, this is the perfect time to introduce the Sit Up. This is the classic abdominal exercise and is most effective when performed right after the weight routine to stress the muscles that have just been exercised.
#4 – The military press is another good choice of weighted exercise for ab development. It also works the chest, arms and shoulders. To make it effictive for an ab exercise it must be performed while in a standing position, otherwise the strain goes to the legs if done in a sitting position. The benefit to the abdominals comes from the effort to maintain an upright and straight posture while pushing the weights from shoulder height to above your head.
#5 – An exercise that really leaves the abs pumped is the leg raise. This one does require a little bit of equipment but no contraptions. Either a chin up bar or a leg raise frame. Just perform the exercise by raising the legs to your waist keeping them straight and pointed. This one should be done at the end of the routine. The abs will receive an exhausting workout with this one.
