Is Your Exercise Routine Killing Your Weight Loss Dream?
November 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment
There comes a time in every person’s life when being in shape is desirable. When this occurs, many people decide to being participating in a serious exercise program. In the beginning, the program appears to work very well. Slowly, but surely, pounds begin to fly off the scale. Then, the weight loss reaches a plateau and it seems the no more pounds can be shed.
Why is that? Shouldn’t exercise always produce weight loss results and more muscles? Of course, exercise will produce these results when performed correctly. Unfortunately, most of us make a very common mistake when working out which affects our ability to shed pounds. Primarily, we keep the same monotonous workout program, never adding any variety. Consequently, the body gets used to the workout routine.
When you perform the same exercise day in, day out for several weeks the body will become accustomed to it. For example, if you were to work your biceps twice a week performing the same three exercises at the same number of reps, you would definitely see your biceps develop. However, this development would slowly reach a plateau since the body gets used to the movement of the exercise and the stress placed on the body. In short, your body will have adapted to the routine. This leads to the body no longer responding to the routine.
Yes, you may continue to burn a few calories, but you will not see the noticeable results you once did. While this problem is illustrated here through an example of biceps exercises, this problem could be illustrated in any number of ways with any exercise regimen. Simply put, too much of the same undermines a workout. Therefore, you must change up your exercise routine.
Another problem people will have is that they try to use exercise alone as a means of getting in shape. This is an ok plan, but it would be improved significantly if one were to reign in an improper diet. When a diet is too high in fat and sugars and calories are consumed in excess, no amount of exercise will be able to deliver great results. There is just too much poor quality, high calorie food that needs to be burned to improve ones appearance. Conversely, eating properly places the body in an absolutely prime position to be better suited for proper weight loss.
This is why it is recommended that you shake up your diet and exercise routine. Every so many weeks, you should try something new and different and change up your work out strategy. You should also be increasing your intensity levels every week so that your work out is more productive. A good diet and meal plan will help you as well.
The Medifast diet is one of the most highly recommended meal plans that will help to engage the body better in any work out plan. It is a meal replacement plan that takes the guess work out of deciding what is best to eat to create great weight loss results. The Most Brilliant Information On Slimming Down Quickly
October 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Unfortunately when many people come to the realization that they are carrying too much condition, they have tipped the scale far more than they would have liked. Panic then sets in and the need to lose it quickly, generally prior to a special occasion such as a wedding, becomes a priority.
It then becomes a race against time with the person seeking out a diet, exercise program, pills or medical procedures that will help them achieve their goal. Unfortunately although they will work if given enough perseverance, many of these will leave one hungry, lifeless and completely lacking energy. Moods are then affected with the person becoming irritable and intolerant of those around and thus usually causing the person to quit. The most effective method to lose weight is not to crash diet but to implement a lifestyle change consisting of good eating and exercise habits that will help you lose the weight and keep it off.
Enjoy your food. Eating should not only provide a source of nutrition but should be enjoyed. Choose healthy, nutritional meals that you enjoy eating. One will not stay with a healthy eating plan if the food is bland and tasteless or worse, downright horrible. Limit foods that have a high calorie or sugar count that provide little or no nutritional value.
Eat a good breakfast. Do not think that you are cutting calories by skipping breakfast as chances are that you will be ravenous later in the day causing one to choose high calorie meals that usually have little nutritional value. People who eat breakfast are more likely to have higher energy levels and consume more vitamins and minerals and less fat during the day.
Choose water as your desired beverage. Whilst juices and milk provide a high nutritional value they are normally high in calories. Regular soft drinks are viewed by most nutritionists as ‘empty’ calorie foods that provide no nutritional value and have high calorie and sugar content.. Whilst it has been shown that drinking alcoholic beverages in moderation can provide some health benefits they also have high calorie content.
Exercise regularly. This is of the utmost importance as muscle development has been shown to be conducive to lowering the body fat content. It is therefore necessary to add resistance exercises to your program. It is of little value to try to lose weight whilst maintaining a sedentary lifestyle as it is the percentage of body fat, not necessarily our overall weight, that we should be concerned with.
Most importantly if you blow out on the chocolate cake do not feel like you have failed on your quest for a lifestyle change. Pick it back up where you left off, it takes time to implement new habits.

Losing Weight With The Mediterranean Diet
October 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment
The best way of losing weight is a lifestyle change. You must begin a fitness walking program and change your diet for good. Short term diets work and there are some excellent ones available, but there is a dangers of reverting to your old ways once you have lost weight. So you really must look at the whole picture and resolve to choose a diet and stick to it.
The Mediterranean diet with its fresh vegetables, fruit, lean meat and oily fish can easily become a way of life. It is one of the best weight loss diets around and is even better if the ingredients are organically grown. There is a school of thought that argues there is no clear evidence of a difference in vitamin or mineral content of foods grown organically and inorganically. But even if this is the case by eating organic produce you are minimising the chemicals going onto the land and leaching into the ground water. With organics you are helping the planet with your weight loss program. Surely a good thing.
But what are organically grown fruit, vegetables and meat anyway? The definition is that it is food grown and processed using no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Pesticides derived from natural sources such as biological pesticides may be used. There are programs in some countries certifying 100% organic labels, so that you can buy from shops with confidence.
Organic food is available from most supermarkets, but the best and cheapest way of buying seasonal produce is at garden gates. Many gardeners sell surplus fruit and vegetables very cheaply and do not heavily use chemicals. Their produce may not be 100% organic, but it is likely to be better than 90%.
So now we are into our walking fitness program and have healthy fruit and vegetables for our Mediterranean diet. What about meat? Organic meat is produced by giving animals and poultry organic feed, access to the outdoors, rotational grazing, a balanced diet and clean housing to minimise disease. Not only does it benefit us, it greatly improves the living conditions and happiness of the animals and birds.
There is no denying that healthy eating, including the Mediterranean diet is more expensive than unhealthy eating. The cost of farming organically is high and this must be passed on to the consumer if farmers are to make a living. So you must decide whether you can afford to go the organic route or not. If you can’t don’t despair, just buy the best ingredients available at the price you want to pay.
Now with the elements of the Mediterranean diet in place you may wish to learn more about it. There is a lot of information both on the internet and in bookstores and it is not too difficult to find out all you need to know.

The Lemonade Diet – To Do Or Not To Do?
October 10, 2009 · 3 Comments
Let’s look at the Lemonade diet. What, actually, is it? Originally named the Master Cleanse, it became the lemonade diet through popular usage. It was first planned as a de-toxifier for the bowel and body rather than as a reducing diet. Stanley Burroughs, the originator of the Lemonade diet said it is ”a reducing diet which is far superior in every way, to any other system because it dissolves and eliminates all types of fatty tissue.” Read more
