Avoid Memory Loss Using Frequent Exercise

Physical activity for 20 minutes each day can reduce problems with memory. According to a recent study published in ‘Journal of the American Medical Association “(JAMA).
What would otherwise occur with brain health, where the average age continues to increase in world population? Up to 2050 it is assumed that the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease will increase from today’s 26.6 million to 106.2 million worldwide, this is according to background information contained in this study.
Improvements
This recent piece of research shows that the participants who were all 50 years or older, who completed a 24-week home-based activity program had modest improvements in cognitive function compared with a control group.
This is evidenced by a press release issued JAMA. Cognitive functions are among others the ability to think, remember things and solve problems.
“As far as we know, this is the first trial that shows that physical activity improves cognitive function in elderly people with subjective and objective cognitive impairments,” write the researchers.
They add that the yield of activity was evident after six months and that continued at least 12 months after the paper was completed.
The 170 participants in the study even reported that they had problems with memory, and was described by researchers to be at risk for dementia. However, none of them had no diagnosis of dementia at the start of the study.
Small but important improvements
138 people completed the half-year scientific assessment.
‘The average improvement of 0.69 points (ADAS-cog) compared with the control group is small – but it is potentially important when considering the very modest amounts of physical activity by participants in the study actually performed, “write the researchers .
Participants in the activity group were encouraged to achieve at least 150 minutes of physical activity with medium intensity weekly. They were asked to divide the total training amount or sessions into three 50 minute blocks. In practice, it appeared that it managed to achieve an average of 142 minutes, which therefore corresponds to approximately 20 minutes daily.
