Arthritis Treatment and Relief
April 19, 2009 Filed Under: Arthritis
Arthritis is the Latin name for inflammation of a joint. This can be part of a generalized arthritic process throughout the body or as a result of trauma and injury to only one joint. An arthritic joint is swollen and painful. It may be red and hot and movement is painful. Around each joint is a capsule which contains the fluid used to lubricate the joint. If the entire joint capsule becomes inflamed, all or most of the movements of that joint will strain a different part of the capsule. So all or most of the movements will be painful or limited. Arthritis leads to a characteristic limitation of movement which varies from joint to joint. The more inflamed the capsule, the greater the limitation of movement. Whatever the cause of arthritis the pattern of limitation of movement is the same.
Joint replacement surgery is a godsend to many, but again, that isn’t really treating the arthritis, it is recreating a functional joint after arthritis has already destroyed one you were born with.
Natural arthritis treatment is an alternative to some of the riskier treatment options. One of the more traditional treatments is NSAIDs. These are cox-2 inhibitors which work to relive the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. Because individuals end up taking so many, these are considered dangerous. They can damage internal organs and even cause internal bleeding. Another treatment is joint replacement or surgery and this is risky for obvious reasons. With all surgeries, there is risk and you simply can’t be sure if the joint replacement is going to be successful or not.
The ALCAT blood test is one way to discover if you have any food sensitivities and if so, exactly what they are. Selectively eliminating any suspected problem foods from your diet for a week and then systematically reintroducing them, with at least 24 hours between each reintroduction, is another.
Besides foods to avoid, there are also healthy foods to seek out. Assuming you don’t have a food sensitivity to them, you will want to eat foods that have anti-inflammatory properties. Including the spices tumeric, ginger, and cumin in your diet, for instance, can calm inflammation without the negative side effects of many prescription arthritis drugs.

Hi Kristine, thanks for joining the conversation. Earthing sounds like a profound breakthrough.
Indeed it is, Lucy. You’ll be hearing more about this in the news. The company is gearing up for a major national advertising campaign. Received a video preview and I can’t wait to be able to share it. What is most profound is it addresses the CAUSE of chronic inflammation and that is lack of earth contact. Very simple, yet profound. Thanks for your interest.
I certainly hope that we’ll be able to follow this closely Kristine. This is really so important for people with chronic inflammation – what a breakthrough this could be. Look forward to reading more about it.
