The importance of the ratio of calcium to magnesium in the body is also critical for good absorption and health. Many reports have brought out the fact that the ideal ratio for cardiac wellness is two to one, the same as the natural ratio of the coral calcium.
The body absorbs calcium as well as the other mineral supplements found in the natural coral calcium when it is taken as a nutritional supplement. Many studies have been done comparing the absorption of calcium by the human body from different sources. These sources of calcium are marine based coral calcium and calcium derived from milk, . Also included are hydroxyapatite, which is the name given to calcium derived from cow bone as well as regular calcium supplements.
In one of the studies regarding calcium absorption several groups of animals were studied. Each group was given different types of absorbable calcium with their regular feed for one month. These feeding experiments were very carefully controlled ,so they would bring out very accurate results. Periodically the calcium and magnesium levels in the bodies of the animals were measured by checking their organs and blood. The study was mainly focused on finding out the role of the calcium and magnesium ratio pertaining to heart disease prevention.
The animals who were given coral calcium had higher amounts of calcium in their bodies. This brought out the fact that the absorption of calcium from coral calcium had a better rate then the other types of calcium. The researches arrived at the conclusion that natural coral calcium appears to promote calcium content of the entire body and not just of the blood.
The coral calcium was absorbed better than any other type of calcium, including calcium supplement. In addition, the animals fed coral calcium had higher levels of good cholesterol (HDL) than the other subjects.
So, it seems that the most absorbable calcium is coral calcium which is great news since this supplement also has over 70 trace minerals that your body needs for good health.
