All About Getting Fit After Having Your Baby

December 16, 2009 Filed Under: Jogging

When I had my first child, I was in awe of how beautiful she was. After looking in the mirror, I was not quite as happy about what I looked like. The skin on my stomach was sagging. My abdominal muscles had no tone at all. The worst thing of all, though, was the foods that I craved during pregnancy were now firmly attached to my hips and thighs. I knew that if I didn’t make the effort to get fit as soon as possible that time would slip away and I would still be unhappy with my appearance at my daughter’s first birthday.

I had read a lot about how post natal fitness was important. It offered so many benefits to new mums. It helped drop leftover weight from pregnancy, built strength and increased energy levels. It also was known to help ward off postpartum depression.

While I started off breast-feeding my child I did it for her health, then I realized it had many benefits for me. When I recognized I was giving my daughter her source of nutrition, I started eating better. It also burned off many calories. Between both of those things, I started losing some of the weight I gained when I was pregnant.

Since large portions of my bodily fluids were passing through the breast milk, I started drinking more water. That also gave me weight loss somewhat of an increase. However, I knew it would take more than just increasing my weight loss to help get my thighs and hips back to where I wanted them. Since my doctor did not permit full on exercise for me yet I started doing a low impact workout, which was walking. I realized I needed to trade in my regular stroller for a jogging stroller.

After looking at all my options, I finally found a baby jogger pushchair that I liked. Once I had my stroller, I started taking my daughter to the nearby lake so we could walk the path that circled it. It gave us a chance to get outside and get fresh air while I slowly returned my body to its pre-pregnancy shape.

As soon as the doctor cleared me for exercise, we picked up the pace. At first, I was concerned that riding in the jogging stroller would be too rough for my daughter if I was running. However, the smooth ride made the jog a pleasure for both of us.

It wasn’t long until I started noticing other moms walking the lake with their kids in their Baby jogger city mini pushchairs. Apparently, I was not the only mom with the idea. It worked out good for all of us because the children loved riding and got to not only work out, but also talk to others in the same situation.

When the pounds started to disappear, I added to my workout strength training for some tone. It was not too long after that the flabby skin smoothed out and tightened in all areas. Today I look better than I did before I was pregnant.

Of all the fitness products I have bought over the years, my jogging stroller is probably my favorite. What other product would allow me to combine time with my daughter with working out? Even now that she is older, it has become a regular activity that we share. I pop her in the baby jogger pushchair and take off jogging.

If you enjoyed jogging or even walking before pregnancy, it is a great way to get your body back in shape. A jogging stroller is designed to provide a comfortable ride for your child while allowing you to comfortably hold on while running. While they do tend to cost more than regular strollers, I like to think that having the ability to exercise while sharing time with your child makes up it. Just imagine yourself jogging along with your baby riding contentedly in your baby jogger buggy.

Before you choose the jogger stroller for you come and see the awesome range of the latest baby jogger pushchairs, you wont believe how easy it is to get fit whilst spedning time with your little one.
