Although it seems logical to use traditional cardio, there are problems. With traditional “target heart rate” cardio you typically only burn calories when you are engaged in the workout. With interval training you are boosting your metabolism for many hours after the workout. It has been shown that interval training can burn up to 6 times the calories compared to traditional cardio. Though we work and stay positive, sometimes we don’t get our desires fulfilled. After we think about it, we may realize we are glad it didn’t work out. At this point, considering that there is a “divine plan” can explain many things to us. Making that theory a part of your belief system brings focus to a bigger plan. Sometimes our version of how “ready” we are to have something doesn’t coincide with what the bigger picture wants. Something is saying there are still lessons to be learned. A common belief is that if one exercises too hard, then the calories burned will come from carbohydrates in the muscles and not from body fat. An argument for high intensity cardio workouts is that more total calories are burned at a higher intensity level. Although this is a combination of both carbohydrates in the muscles as well as body fat calories.
